Lake Days

There’s plenty to do at Wolfe’s Den without ever leaving the property. Whether your family wants to spend the day on the water, relax along the shoreline, play games outside, or settle in for a rainy afternoon at the cabin, we provide plenty of options for enjoying your Lake Vermilion vacation together.

Lake Vermilion is a natural lake, so guests should expect changing water levels, rocks and uneven lake-bottom conditions rather than a groomed resort-style swimming beach. Water shoes can be helpful, particularly for children and anyone exploring along the shoreline.

Fun on the Water

Guests are welcome to use our non-motorized water toys and recreational equipment during their stay.

 

Water toys are available for guest use at no additional charge. We simply ask that equipment be used responsibly and returned to its designated storage location after use.

​

Our equipment includes:

  • 2 hard kayaks and 1 inflatable kayak

  • 2 stand-up paddleboards

  • 2 water bikes and a paddleboat

  • Floating swim mat. rafts and water noodles

  • Towable tube

  • Assorted water toys

  • Life jackets in a variety of sizes and beach towels

Beach & Swimming

Between the guest dock and boathouse is a small walk-in sandy beach area providing convenient access to Lake Vermilion.

A Few Important Water-Safety Reminders​:

​

  • Lake activities and water equipment use are at guests’ own risk. Lake Vermilion is a natural lake with underwater rocks, so headfirst diving is not permitted. Guests should be mindful of changing weather and lake conditions.

​

  • Children must be supervised by the water and when using water toys. Life jackets are required when using the cabin’s non-motorized water toys. We have life jackets in various sizes that can be borrowed, but can’t guarantee fit.

Not every lake day needs to be busy.

Guests can relax around the property with:

  • Dock and beach seating

  • Hammock and swing

  • Private deck overlooking the lake

  • Private guest firepit

  • Complimentary firewood and fire starters

  • Campfire cooking accessories

  • Outdoor games

 

It’s also a great place to watch for loons, bald eagles and other Northwoods wildlife or simply enjoy the changing views across Wakemup Narrows.

  • Children’s craft supplies and activities

  • Books and puzzles

  • High-speed fiber-optic Wi-Fi with complimentary YouTube TV and a variety of free streaming channels

 

Our online guest guide also includes suggestions for nearby attractions and activities when the weather isn’t cooperating.
